Hoof repair

The use of equilox and spectra cloth allows us quick and reliable hoof repairs. 

One point to ponder is that hooves absorb water/moisture readily.  When the hooves get saturated, they expand and the adhesives do not, and therefore the bond begins to fail and a great place for infections begins. No matter how good the adhesive technology is, that will never change.

Sealants such as Tuff Stuff can help if properly used.  By that I mean that the hoof needs to be clean and DRY before application, and it needs to be applied before they get wet.

  Hoof prep is vital for success.

  Hot fitting is still necessary to have maximum contact.

  The real secret is the way the heels are "wrapped" as seen here.

  You can see the air through the holes.  After the equilox/spectra combo is applied & set, I drive nails through it and clench it normally.

  Equilox sets up best with no oxygen, so we wrap it with elastic wrap.
