Dakota

Dakota has mild laminitis and is ridden.  The left front foot is the most affected, but still mild.

Notice the stretching of the laminae.  The breakover point needs to be just before the white line to eliminate stress.  Often a couple of cycles of shoeing will greatly improve the integrity of the laminae.
I put the equithane in (right) because the owner said the veterinarian required it due to concussion sensitivity. The picture on the left is how it was shod before (not me).  I put a larger shoe on to better balance the hoof.
The support here is an improvement, but next time I will "rocker" the shoe to provide even better mechanical function.

Dakota has now been sold.
