Success Through Soundness
Dakota
Dakota has mild laminitis and is ridden.
The left front foot is the most affected, but still mild.
 |
Notice the stretching of the laminae. The breakover point needs to be
just before the white line to eliminate stress. Often a couple of
cycles of shoeing will greatly improve the integrity of the laminae.

I put the equithane in (right) because the owner said the veterinarian
required it due to concussion sensitivity. The picture on the left is how it
was shod before (not me). I put a larger shoe on to better balance the
hoof. |

The support here is an improvement, but next time I will "rocker"
the shoe to provide even better mechanical function. |

Dakota has now been sold.
